How to Measure a Patio Cover:

1.  WIDE:  Measure the width of the area you want to cover. See Diagram - EXAMPLE  1

2.  PROJECTION (attached to house wall, under eave/fascia board): If your cover will attach to the back wall: Measure from the wall of the house, outwards, to the edge of the area to be covered. (NOT just to post locations) See Diagram - EXAMPLE  2 
OR
3.  PROJECTION (attached to the eave/fascia board of the house) If your cover will attach to the roof eave/fascia: Follow directions for #2 above. Then measure the distance from the wall to the outside edge of the eave. See Diagram - EXAMPLE  3  Subtract the 2nd measurement (example #3) from the first wall measurement (example #2) This will give you the projection for a patio cover attached at the eave/fascia.
If you are just replacing an existing patio cover, and want the same size. 1.  measure how far the current cover PROJECTS away from the house. Do not take any post locations into consideration when measuring. 2.  Measure how WIDE it is along the wall or eave/fascia of the house. 3.  Make note whether the current cover is attached to the wall or the eave/fascia. If you want a different size patio cover from your existing one, please refer to the instructions on the right: MEASURE FOR A NEW PATIO COVER
POST HEIGHT MEASUREMENT: Standard post heights are 8’, 10’, 12’, and can be cut down to height needed. (taller posts are available) SINGLE STORY HOMES: Measure from the ground up to the bottom of the eave/fascia board. TWO-STORY HOMES: Measure from the ground up to the cover height you desire

1.  WIDE:  Measure the width of the area you want to cover. See Diagram - EXAMPLE  1
